What We Do

We work to enhance living conditions for refugees and internally displaced populations in Kurdish regions by providing training and institutional capacity building. KAID collaborates with local non-governmental organizations and newly established civil governments to respond to challenges and catalyze sustainable, long-term results. We include Kurdish regions within the countries of Iraq, Syria, Turkey, and Iran.

We envision a Middle East where people can prosper safe, secure, and free from fear upon their return home.

Our Experience

KAID is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC with regional staff based in Erbil and Sulemaniyah, Iraqi Kurdistan and with additional staff in Syria, Europe, and Canada . Our primary focus is the design and implementation of capacity-building initiatives.

The staff and board of KAID bring years of experience in diplomacy, project management, capacity-building and humanitarian initiatives, journalism, and civil society advocacy to our projects. We have extensive knowledge of the region, language and culture, as well as the US government entities and NGOs that interact with it.
